About the role
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and monitor patient health conditions to ensure adherence to care plans
- Perform health assessments and identify changes in patient conditions
- Prepare and operate essential medical equipment for procedures and examinations
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and medication administration in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and correctional staff to ensure coordinated care in a secure environment
- Ensure compliance with healthcare policies, safety standards, and medication storage protocols
- Assist in medical emergencies and provide immediate triage and care when necessary
Requirements
- Current Texas Vocational Nurse (LVN) license, or ability to transfer license to Texas
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- For new graduates: Must pass the NCLEX-PN on the first attempt
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to perform health assessments and administer medications
- Proficiency in documenting care within an Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of previous experience in a correctional healthcare environment
- Three years of previous nursing experience
