Correctional LVN

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and monitor patient health conditions to ensure adherence to care plans
• Perform health assessments and identify changes in patient conditions
• Prepare and operate essential medical equipment for procedures and examinations
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and medication administration in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and correctional staff to ensure coordinated care in a secure environment
• Ensure compliance with healthcare policies, safety standards, and medication storage protocols
• Assist in medical emergencies and provide immediate triage and care when necessary

Requirements

• Current Texas Vocational Nurse (LVN) license, or ability to transfer license to Texas
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program
• For new graduates: Must pass the NCLEX-PN on the first attempt
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to perform health assessments and administer medications
• Proficiency in documenting care within an Electronic Health Record (EHR)

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of previous experience in a correctional healthcare environment
• Three years of previous nursing experience
