About the Company
Cape is America’s privacy-first mobile carrier. Founded in 2022, Cape is building a secure network from the ground up to provide consumers, businesses, and government agencies with a suite of privacy and security features that legacy systems cannot offer.
Responsibilities
- Own legal needs across the company, including regulatory agencies, government and commercial contracts, employment matters, and IP risks
- Serve as the primary legal point of contact for Engineering, Product, Business Development, and Operations
- Establish and scale internal legal processes, templates (MSAs, NDAs), and compliance frameworks (FCC, state licensing)
- Build and manage a curated outside counsel network
- Partner with the government contracts team on FARS/DFARS, contract formation, and teaming agreements
- Professionalize legal risk management and establish new processes and frameworks
- Work with leadership on corporate matters, partnerships, and transactions
Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing
- 3-8+ years of legal experience
- Mix of top-tier law firm training and early-stage/growth startup experience
- Ability to operate with ambiguity and across functions
- Strong ability to learn new areas like government contracts or telecom regulation quickly
