About the role
Responsibilities
- Cut drill core using masonry or automated saws as directed by clients
- Review and interpret cut sheets and contextual information within core sample boxes
- Sample material from core boxes based on specified intervals and produce marked sample bags
- Maintain accurate production logs and digital inventory of core sample boxes
- Handle, stack, and store core sample boxes safely
- Perform general cleaning duties to maintain laboratory cleanliness
- Inspect equipment and report required adjustments to senior staff
- Comply with all established safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies
- Assist with general sample preparation duties and core photography as needed
Requirements
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Basic English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in a hot, dusty environment
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Basic alpha/numeric comprehension and item tracking knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 months of work experience in a mine site or commercial laboratory
- Previous experience using a masonry saw
- Experience working in a geological setting
- Previous experience as a Sample Prep Technician
