About the role
Responsibilities
- Establish outstanding provision within the Science subject area, including all programmes, systems, and structures.
- Take accountability for student progress and development across KS3, KS4, and Sixth Form.
- Ensure high standards of teaching and learning through continuous development and enhancement.
- Provide an engaging, relevant, and differentiated curriculum in accordance with academy aims.
- Implement and apply school policies and procedures consistently across the department.
- Manage and deploy teaching staff, support staff, and physical/financial resources effectively.
- Lead development for literacy within the subject area to raise standards across the Academy.
Requirements
- Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Minimum of three years' teaching experience, ideally including KS5 experience.
- Strong knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
- Proven experience in subject leadership, managing teams, or supporting the development of others.
- Demonstrated success in raising student achievement and implementing innovative curriculum changes.
- Proficient ICT skills with experience using technology to enhance learning.
- Experience with monitoring, evaluation, and using performance data to improve teaching quality.
