Coordinator of Science

Responsibilities

• Establish outstanding provision within the Science subject area, including all programmes, systems, and structures.
• Take accountability for student progress and development across KS3, KS4, and Sixth Form.
• Ensure high standards of teaching and learning through continuous development and enhancement.
• Provide an engaging, relevant, and differentiated curriculum in accordance with academy aims.
• Implement and apply school policies and procedures consistently across the department.
• Manage and deploy teaching staff, support staff, and physical/financial resources effectively.
• Lead development for literacy within the subject area to raise standards across the Academy.

Requirements

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
• Minimum of three years' teaching experience, ideally including KS5 experience.
• Strong knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
• Proven experience in subject leadership, managing teams, or supporting the development of others.
• Demonstrated success in raising student achievement and implementing innovative curriculum changes.
• Proficient ICT skills with experience using technology to enhance learning.
• Experience with monitoring, evaluation, and using performance data to improve teaching quality.
