About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized operational consultation to academic units on the development and proposal of graduate-level curricula, including new certificates, diplomas, and program revisions.
- Support proponents in ensuring curriculum proposals are complete and aligned with UBC and Ministry requirements before submission to the Graduate Curriculum Committee.
- Monitor proposals through the approval process, including the UBC Senate and the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.
- Advise on program structures, administrative implementation, and the integration of credentials into UBC’s academic and administrative systems.
- Manage and maintain an extensive Access database and archive of all submissions to the Graduate Curriculum Committee.
- Coordinate updates to the UBC Academic Calendar for the Faculty and its graduate programs.
- Provide expert consultation on applicant eligibility, complex GPA evaluations, and student records management.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Access and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in student administration, particularly supporting complex student cases.
- Experience working in a graduate education environment.
- Knowledge of UBC’s organization, programs, policies, and curriculum procedures.
- Experience developing, writing, and interpreting policy.
- Ability to manage interactions with tact and discretion when communicating with faculty and senior administration.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
