About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee BirdCoop Bouldering Centre operations, including staff recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation
- Manage front-line staff, route setters, and instructors to ensure high-quality service and safety
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures, facility manuals, and patron safety orientations
- Plan and deliver bouldering programming, including drop-in sessions, camps, and special events
- Manage facility finances, including cash handling, reconciliation, budget preparation, and retail inventory
- Oversee bouldering wall maintenance and route setting strategies
- Coordinate the purchase of equipment, instruments, and consumable supplies
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of two years of related experience in recreation or facility management
- Proven supervisory experience, including managing part-time or student staff
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Full Class 5 driver's license
- Ability to lift or move heavy objects of approximately 50lbs
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and expertise with bouldering
- Experience with Xplor Recreation software
- Previous experience in retail management and staff training development
- Strong financial, organizational, and time management skills
