About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide front-line management of the front desk, facility, and event operations at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of approximately 40 student staff members
- Oversee all cash handling, including deposits, petty cash, and financial reconciliation of sales
- Manage facility calendars and schedules to ensure maximum profitability and efficient usage of spaces
- Develop and implement communication protocols, operating procedures, and event run sheets
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors during facility conversions and event load-ins/load-outs
- Facilitate private bookings, including contract creation, rental equipment management, and insurance collection
- Perform regular facility and equipment inspections and escalate maintenance issues
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of two years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong financial and accounting skills
- Proven leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to lift or move heavy objects of approximately 50lbs
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Public Administration, or Human Resources
- Experience with live entertainment, event production, or event management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including advanced SharePoint) and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience using PerfectMind or Class software
- Strong skills in project management, coaching, and conflict resolution
