Coordinator Animal Keeper Erbivori

Responsibilities

• Implement animal management standards and ensure the health of herbivores and pigs
• Coordinate the work of 3 herbivore/pig animal keepers and 2 agricultural workers
• Assign daily tasks and develop work protocols for the team
• Coordinate volunteers and organize training courses for new arrivals
• Manage direct relationships with veterinarians for medical care and sanitary management
• Support compliance with local health authorities and biosecurity regulations
• Manage procurement of hay, feed, and necessary medications
• Coordinate animal transfers and supervise loading/unloading processes
• Supervise the state of refuge structures and maintenance needs
• Manage relationships with suppliers for daily refuge expenses
• Support animal keeper activities including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring behavior during peak needs

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in animal care, preferably in rescue or shelter settings
• Degree or field experience in biology, zoology, ethology, or related disciplines
• Strong knowledge of animal behavior, specifically herbivores and pigs
• Scientific observation skills for monitoring animal welfare
• Excellent self-organization, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and on rotating shifts
• Valid driver's license and own vehicle
• Proficiency in using a PC (Internet, Email, Office)
• Availability to relocate to Castiglione del Lago (PG)

Preferred Qualifications

• Good knowledge of English
• Specific experience and passion for herbivores and/or pigs
• Agricultural tractor license
• High manual dexterity
