About the role
Responsibilities
- Cook food in accordance with established recipes and menus
- Prepare vegetables, meats, and pastries for cooking
- Set out food in appropriate containers and apply garnishes
- Ensure cooking and preparation areas and utensils are cleaned after use
- Lead and instruct Cafeteria Workers in food preparation
- Assist in menu preparation and maintaining inventory/ordering supplies
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Three years of related working experience (post-secondary culinary education may be substituted)
- Successful completion of food safety training
- Physical ability to perform required culinary duties
- Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to lead a team and deal with people with tact
