Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious meals following standardized recipes and specific dietary requirements
• Utilize various cooking methods including boiling, steaming, roasting, baking, grilling, and frying
• Follow safe food handling, storage, labeling, and sanitation practices at all times
• Rotate inventory properly and use food resources efficiently to minimize waste
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and storage areas, including waste removal
• Comply with hazard communication procedures and the safe use of cleaning chemicals
• Coordinate with co-workers, students, or volunteers on food preparation and kitchen maintenance as directed

Requirements

• High school diploma plus one year of post-secondary culinary training or related discipline
• Food Safe Level 1 certification
• CPR First Aid (C) certification (or willingness to obtain)
• One year of related culinary experience
• Knowledge of various dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, vegan, and allergen-free needs
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
• Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment
