About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide healthy, well-balanced meals to residents following Canadian Food Guide standards
- Plan and develop recipes and menus for a population of 30-40 people
- Prepare a variety of foods in a timely manner for regular meals and special functions
- Maintain the kitchen, dining area, pantries, and food storage in a clean and sanitary condition
- Manage portion control to minimize waste and oversee inventory control
- Order kitchen supplies and inspect deliveries for quality and quantity
- Supervise kitchen activities and monitor sanitation practices to ensure compliance with regulations
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in a cooking program or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience cooking for groups
- Valid Food Safety certificate
- Valid CPR/First Aid certificate
- Valid driver's license with a recent driver's abstract
- Basic computer skills for online grocery ordering
- Ability to pass a recent Criminal History check
- Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries with clientele
Preferred Qualifications
- Non-Violent Crisis Training
- Crisis Intervention Skills Training
