About the role

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals following Canada’s Food Guide and dietician-approved menus
  • Utilize various cookery methods including boiling, steaming, roasting, grilling, and braising
  • Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards, including temperature audits and inventory rotation
  • Ensure all food items are properly labeled, dated, and stored in refrigerators or freezers
  • Clean and maintain food preparation devices and kitchen equipment to high standards
  • Manage kitchen waste and maintain cleanliness in the dining room and food storage areas
  • Communicate effectively with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth food service operations

Requirements

  • Red Seal Certification (food services and food handling)
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification
  • WHMIS and Universal Precautions training
  • One year of experience working in an industrial kitchen setting
  • Completion of a formal post-secondary program (minimum one academic year)
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel within Calgary
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to pass a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
