Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals in accordance with published service schedules and portioning guidelines
• Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness by cleaning work areas, equipment, storerooms, and coolers
• Provide direction and supervision to kitchen volunteers in a positive and respectful manner
• Ensure food safety by completing required forms, managing surplus food storage, and following all safety protocols
• Manage inventory by putting away deliveries and donations and preparing items for the following day's service
• Perform dishwashing and cleaning duties, including floors and stainless steel, when assistance is unavailable
• Report faulty equipment and document customer feedback or operational issues to supervisors

Requirements

• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Recognized cooking course certificate and restaurant-style training
• Foodsafe Level 1 certification
• First Aid Level 1 certification
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in an institutional kitchen setting
• Experience with inventory management and supply ordering
