About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious meals from scratch for long-term care residents
- Cook in batches and manage multiple stations to ensure timely, properly tempered service
- Follow resident dietary needs, texture modifications, and standardized recipes per care plans
- Lead the kitchen team collaboratively during meal service
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with food safety and Public Health regulations
- Check and record food temperatures to ensure compliance with MOH guidelines
- Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment
- Support special events and contribute to a positive dining experience
Requirements
- Food Safety Awareness Course certification with recertification every 5 years
- Cook trade certificate, chef training, culinary management diploma, or relevant healthcare/restaurant cooking experience
- Vulnerable Sector Screening check completed within the past 6 months
- TB 2 Step updated within the last year
