Cook

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve menu items according to recipes, production sheets, and supervisor instructions
• Prepare proteins, vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients to support daily meal production
• Maintain individual cook stations and ensure food is checked for taste, consistency, and presentation
• Set up service lines to ensure food freshness and prevent shortages or oversupply
• Maintain high standards of kitchen sanitation, including cleaning work areas, counters, floors, and equipment
• Assist other kitchen personnel and perform duties such as operating the POS system as needed
• Ensure all food is properly and safely prepared, stored, and served in compliance with health standards

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent experience
• 1 year of previous food preparation experience
• ServSafe certification (or ability to pass the exam after hire)
• Ability to obtain and maintain VT DLC certification and a Middlebury College driver's license
• Knowledge of various cooking methods, techniques, and safe food handling practices
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs, and standing for long periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced culinary training through an accredited culinary school or vocational program
