About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure food preparation follows planned menus and is produced in sufficient quantities
- Maintain proper food storage and monitor temperatures for hot and cold items
- Inspect work areas daily, including storerooms, refrigerators, freezers, and dining rooms, to ensure cleanliness
- Handle food in a sanitary manner during receipt, preparation, and storage
- Maintain daily food temperature logs in accordance with health regulations
- Check kitchen equipment daily to ensure proper sanitation techniques are followed
- Notify the Food Service Supervisor and issue work orders for necessary repairs or replacements
- Assist the Supervisor with ordering, stocking, and inventory management
- Perform general kitchen duties including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 3-6 months of related experience and/or training
- Ability to make quantitative calculations using fractional and decimal measure units
- Valid State Driver’s License
- County Sanitation Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- One year in Culinary Arts or a related field from a college or technical school
- Previous supervisory experience
