About the role
Responsibilities
- Install and assemble conveyor structures, frames, rollers, and belt storage units
- Align and tension conveyor belts through curves and steep gradients
- Conduct regular inspections on belts, drives, rollers, and pulleys
- Perform belt splicing, patching, and replacement of worn components
- Maintain booster drives, hydraulic tensioning systems, and drive motors
- Monitor belt performance and adjust speed, tension, and alignment
- Coordinate with TBM mechanics and operators to synchronize production
- Follow all Ontario OHSA tunnelling safety requirements and confined-space procedures
- Complete maintenance logs, inspection reports, and repair records
Requirements
- Completion of an apprenticeship program in Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of conveyor system components like rollers, drives, and pulleys
- Experience with belt splicing, mechanical repairs, and gearbox maintenance
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and conveyor schematics
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and alignment instruments
- Ability to work in confined spaces, steep grades, and noisy underground environments
- Ability to work physically demanding tasks and extended shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial Mechanic/Millwright trade certification
- Belt technician or conveyor-specific training (vulcanizing/splicing)
- Welding equipment proficiency
