Controls Technician

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery
• Manage improvement projects for manufacturing line updates and installations
• Install and provide technical support for PLC-based hardware and software
• Install and program VFDs and other electronic machine components
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to improve and maintain machine reliability
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues using engineering and maintenance principles
• Document technical data for project planning and process improvement

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3–5 years of professional engineering experience or relevant specialized experience
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics
• Experience using electrical test equipment
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with machine control hardware such as PLCs, servos, drives, cameras, and robotics
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC/Servo/Drive systems and Siemens automation platforms
• Experience with automation equipment such as Fanuc, Panasonic, Indramat, or Motoman
• Manufacturing experience in wood processing environments (CNC, Edgebanders, etc.)
• Project management experience
