About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and own the end-to-end software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation and test framework.
- Develop message replay capabilities to feed trackfiles and site-server messages into control modules at realistic rates.
- Build scenario authoring and regression infrastructure to automate the detection of control-software failures.
- Develop a Flutter-based visualization and operator UI to monitor module inputs, outputs, and vehicle positions.
- Implement version comparison tools to allow teams to qualify changes and catch regressions across software releases.
- Partner with controls, motor-control, and embedded software teams to ensure the tool meets user needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience building simulation, test-infrastructure, or engineering-tooling software.
- Proficiency in Python and/or C++ with the ability to design maintainable applications.
- Experience with containerization and reproducible environments using Docker.
- Experience with message-based systems such as protobuf or similar serialized formats.
- Experience in UI development using a modern framework.
- A working understanding of control systems and closed-loop logic.
- Ability to work on-site in St. Louis, MO.
- Fluency in written and verbal English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling dynamic systems.
- Experience with Flutter or Dart.
- Domain familiarity with rail-signaling (ATP, braking curves) or motor-control (inverters, electric drives).
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics or drivetrain modeling.
- Experience with fault-injection or transitioning from SIL to Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL).
- Familiarity with CAN bus and vehicle log formats.
