About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of complex automated assembly and process equipment.
  • Utilize PLC programming (Rockwell ControlLogix), HMI, and vision systems (Cognex/Keyence) to ensure high machine uptime.
  • Perform hands-on technical work including wiring automated machinery and troubleshooting control circuits.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing equipment maintenance history and identifying root-cause solutions for waste or inefficiencies.
  • Participate in the startup, qualification, and debug of new automation systems.
  • Document all maintenance activities in the database and create standard operating procedures for equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Provide preventative maintenance support and assist operators with daily adjustments and changeovers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of direct experience troubleshooting and optimizing discrete component assembly equipment controls and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, specifically Rockwell ControlLogix.
  • Strong knowledge of VFD and Servo drives and motion control.
  • Experience with machine vision systems (Cognex or Keyence preferred).
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts onsite in Acton, MA.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and understand technical prints.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering Technician Diploma or Associate's Degree.
  • Electrical License.
  • Experience with SQL Server, Visual Basic, or C#.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 79/NFPA 70E and machine safety standards.
  • Experience working in a startup production environment or a clean room environment.
