About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Controls Engineers, including conducting performance reviews and interviewing new candidates.
  • Oversee the design of complete building automation systems, including specification and sizing of controllers, sensors, and networks.
  • Perform software and hardware quality control (QA/QC) reviews for all direct reports.
  • Manage the creation of sequences of operation and documentation of BAS designs and submittals.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure engineering deliverables meet established milestones and deadlines.
  • Provide technical support during the sales process to ensure accurate customer requirement addressing.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, ethics, and company design/programming standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction with 5+ years of HVAC controls experience, OR an Associate's degree in engineering or construction with 10+ years of HVAC controls experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio.
  • Knowledge of enterprise IP networks.
  • Extensive knowledge of third-party communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, or N2.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical building systems.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints and specifications.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Automated Logic software and hardware.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for translating technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time, including overnight stays.
