Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Act as the project lead for automation and control projects, managing scope, budget, and schedule.
• Maintain, upgrade, and optimize control and automation systems at the Paper Mill to improve safety and productivity.
• Troubleshoot system upsets and provide technical support to the maintenance team.
• Use AutoCAD to create loop sheets, electrical elementary diagrams, and control panel layouts.
• Tune and evaluate control loop performance and audit system performance.
• Develop documentation packages for bidding, installation, and maintenance, including scope of work and bill of materials.
• Provide commissioning and startup support for new control system projects.
• Train maintenance personnel on new and existing automation and control systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant field experience.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (ladder logic, function diagrams, and structured text).
• Experience with AC and DC drives.
• Experience with control system network interfaces and communication protocols.
• Experience with HMI configuration and programming.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and continuous process controls.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating electrical control diagrams and power plans.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider DCS.
• Experience with Yaskawa drives.
• Experience with ABB or Foxboro DCS.
• Experience with Voith QCS and Rockwell Contrologix/CompactLogix PLCs.
