Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead controls design activities, including authoring and executing commissioning plans.
• Develop, test, and optimize PLC, HMI, and Robotics control solutions for production equipment and lines.
• Implement and sustain Ignition SCADA/MES solutions, including connectivity, dashboards, and data historian management.
• Drive machine and cell connectivity through IIoT devices and OT integration to support Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Maintain and approve electrical schematics and provide technical direction for capital projects.
• Troubleshoot complex downtime issues using disciplined root-cause and corrective action processes.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and IT/OT teams to define technical requirements.
• Support continuous improvement by utilizing digital KPIs such as OEE, downtime, and scrap rates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanoelectrical Engineering, Electrical/Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing automation and controls.
• Proficiency with PLC and HMI platforms (Rockwell/RSLogix or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation), including tag structures and scripting.
• Experience integrating robotics (e.g., Fanuc) and industrial devices like vision systems and sensors.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus.
• Ability to work onsite in Acuña, Coahuila, MX, and support off-shift needs during critical events if required.
