Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Programming of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems for continuous, discrete and batch processes
• Industrial network specification and design (Ethernet, Modbus, IO-Link, etc.)
• Collaboration with Process and Electrical Design disciplines to identify control system specifications
• Reading and interpreting P&IDs and process design documentation
• Generating documentation including I/O Lists, Process Narratives, and Functional Design Specifications
• Providing commissioning and startup services
• Electrical troubleshooting and configuration of control equipment like VFDs and transmitters
• Assisting in control panel design and equipment specification ensuring compliance with NEC and UL508A

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or Chemical Engineering
• Minimum of 2 years in an industrial controls or system integration role
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC’s, HMI’s and programming software

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Ignition, AVEVA Wonderware, or GE iFix
• Experience with Siemens SIMATIC controllers and STEP 7
• Experience with historians such as FactoryTalk Historian or OSISoft PI
• Experience with OPC Servers (Kepware, Matrikon) and SQL databases
• Proficiency in control panel and network design
