About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and control (EIC) systems for iron-production processes from concept through commissioning.
- Own programming and troubleshooting for Siemens S7 PLCs (TIA Portal), Ignition HMI & SCADA, and associated communication networks.
- Manage the full lifecycle of control system design, including P&IDs, I/O lists, control narratives, and electrical schematics.
- Ensure all systems are efficient, reliable, safe, and compliant with NEC, NFPA, ISA, and IEC standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with process engineering, mechanical systems, and R&D teams to define control strategies.
- Lead installation, configuration, commissioning, and site acceptance testing (SAT) of control systems.
- Develop and review electrical design packages in SolidWorks Electrical, including control panel designs and wiring diagrams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of industry experience in controls and data acquisition (professional experience, excluding internships/co-ops).
- High-level programming proficiency in one or more languages: C/C++, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
- Advanced hands-on experience with industrial instrumentation (voltage, temperature, pressure, level, weight, and flow).
- Proven proficiency with industrial automation protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, or Ethernet/IP.
- Strong knowledge of industrial control system (ICS) design principles and relevant ISA/IEC standards.
- Ability to implement industrial electrical safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and arc-flash boundaries.
