Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Create and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs for fiber optic cable production plants
• Design and implement new control systems projects
• Manage the controls engineering scope for process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation
• Implement robust, cost-effective automation and process machine control systems
• Interface with external system integrators to deliver fully integrated process equipment systems
• Participate in all project phases including design, fabrication, testing, installation, and production start-up support

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated controls aptitude
• Ability to debug and monitor PLC code using ladder logic
• Sound understanding of AC/DC electrical theory and practical application
• Ability to generate and interpret electrical drawings
• Knowledge of ANSI, NFPA, and NEC applicable Electrical Codes
• Proficiency in data analysis using Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, and/or PowerBI
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to reach first principles understanding

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of manufacturing experience
• Experience with Allen Bradley controllers, I/O devices, motion control, and communication protocols
• Experience with electro-mechanical devices such as servo motors, valves, and sensing devices
• Understanding of Six Sigma techniques
• Experience with industrial vision systems and scanning devices
• Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software
