About the role
Responsibilities
- Create and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs for fiber optic cable production plants
- Design and implement new control systems projects
- Manage the controls engineering scope for process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation
- Implement robust, cost-effective automation and process machine control systems
- Interface with external system integrators to deliver fully integrated process equipment systems
- Participate in all project phases including design, fabrication, testing, installation, and production start-up support
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated controls aptitude
- Ability to debug and monitor PLC code using ladder logic
- Sound understanding of AC/DC electrical theory and practical application
- Ability to generate and interpret electrical drawings
- Knowledge of ANSI, NFPA, and NEC applicable Electrical Codes
- Proficiency in data analysis using Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, and/or PowerBI
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to reach first principles understanding
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Experience with Allen Bradley controllers, I/O devices, motion control, and communication protocols
- Experience with electro-mechanical devices such as servo motors, valves, and sensing devices
- Understanding of Six Sigma techniques
- Experience with industrial vision systems and scanning devices
- Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software
