About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and program PLC/HMI systems for polyurethane foam manufacturing equipment
- Monitor and optimize production processes including mixing, curing, and cutting operations
- Implement process control strategies for temperature, pressure, and chemical dosing systems
- Troubleshoot control system issues to minimize production downtime
- Lead automation upgrade projects from concept through commissioning
- Provide technical support for production equipment and develop PM procedures
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and manage project budgets and timelines
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or controls engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Modicon) using languages such as Ladder, Function Block, or Structured Control Language
- Experience with HMI programming (TIA Portal, InTouch, or iFix)
- Knowledge of industrial networks including Ethernet/IP, Profibus, and Modbus
- Ability to travel up to 50% to support facilities across North and South America
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the automotive interiors industry
- Experience installing automated equipment such as assembly lines and robot assembly cells
- Proficiency in robot cell design and programming (Fanuc or Motoman)
- Ability to generate and maintain machinery electrical schematics and diagrams
- Understanding of electrical codes and safety standards (NEC, NFPA 79)
