Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance department by troubleshooting equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment, including devices, I/O, instruments, and all components associated with automated processes.
• Manage PLC documentation, machine control drawings, and electronic archives.
• Support various I/O devices such as HMIs, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, and servo drives.
• Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
• Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs.
• Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
• Implement and maintain data collection systems from plant floor processing equipment.
• Participate in root-cause based problem-solving tasks (such as 8D) to resolve abnormalities.
• Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases and review controls drawings.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of related Controls Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Extensive experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is required.
• Ability to work the B-Crew shift (Tuesday-Friday, 6:30pm-4:30am).

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or an Electrical field.
• Previous experience in the automotive industry.
