Controls Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and enhance global data center standards with a focus on Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and automation
• Review MEP drawings and electrical distribution sets to ensure EPMS design content accuracy
• Create EPMS Scopes of Work (SOW), provide RFI support, and review technical vendor proposals
• Develop and maintain controls points lists, specifications, drawing templates, and Basis of Design (BOD) documentation
• Coordinate with regional project managers to finalize project SOWs and review electrical Long Lead Equipment (LLE) submittals
• Attend Factory Witness Tests (FWTs) and Equipment Qualification Tests (EQTs) to perform point validation and device functionality testing
• Lead collaboration with construction, programmers, and MEP/ACS engineers to accomplish initiative goals
• Drive innovation in building controls and automation to support global infrastructure scaling

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a data center or other critical environment
• 3+ years of experience working with electrical diagrams, single-line diagrams, and electrical distribution systems
• 3+ years of experience working with industrial controls systems
• Experience with power monitoring and SCADA systems
• Experience with industrial communication protocols, specifically Modbus

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• Experience with EPMS platforms such as Eaton Foreseer, Ignition, or Schneider PSO/PME
• Experience programming or configuring revenue-grade metering systems (ION, SEL, GE, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with utility disturbance monitoring, power quality analysis, and event capture
• Knowledge of data center facilities infrastructure including PDU, UPS, and generators
