Controller

Responsibilities

• Supervise the activities of the senior accounting team members
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of complex revenue entries
• Ensure compliance with ASPE and Ministry of Health financial policies
• Prepare monthly financial reporting for 3 business divisions and year-end reporting
• Maintain oversight on Capex-like expenditures against budget
• Prepare and review bad debt calculations and collection procedures
• Assist managers and site staff with reporting needs
• Safeguard financial data integrity in the healthcare resident portal
• Review and approve new vendors and employees in Yardi
• Review A/P payments, payroll, and other routine duties
• Prepare monthly accruals and true-up entries
• Assist with year-end audits

Requirements

• 10+ years of overall accounting experience
• 5+ years of supervisory responsibility
• Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting role with direct reports
• Accounting degree
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with financial accounting software (Yardi preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation
• Knowledge of real estate accounting
