About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting and reporting activities, leading day-to-day operations for a $30 million budget
- Supervise the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grants administration
- Direct and enhance the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of all activities
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in adherence to U.S. GAAP
- Maintain internal controls and safeguards for assets, revenue, expenses, and program budgets
- Coordinate and oversee audit activity, providing required schedules and resolving findings
- Prepare financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting team to promote accountability and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience as a Controller within the nonprofit sector
- 8+ years of overall accounting experience, including management roles
- Proven expertise in nonprofit grants management, compliance, and reporting
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
- Proficiency in large ERP systems (Sage Intacct highly desirable) and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and credit check
- Ability to provide TB test clearance

- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
