Controller

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting and reporting activities, leading day-to-day operations for a $30 million budget
• Supervise the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grants administration
• Direct and enhance the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of all activities
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in adherence to U.S. GAAP
• Maintain internal controls and safeguards for assets, revenue, expenses, and program budgets
• Coordinate and oversee audit activity, providing required schedules and resolving findings
• Prepare financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting team to promote accountability and continuous improvement

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience as a Controller within the nonprofit sector
• 8+ years of overall accounting experience, including management roles
• Proven expertise in nonprofit grants management, compliance, and reporting
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
• Proficiency in large ERP systems (Sage Intacct highly desirable) and advanced Excel skills
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and credit check
• Ability to provide TB test clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
