About the role
Responsibilities
- Direct and control all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606/IFRS 15 revenue recognition standards for complex recurring and services revenue streams.
- Develop a deep understanding of the company’s complex billing and revenue cycle, partnering with Revenue Operations and Legal.
- Manage tax filings, sales/use tax, and regulatory compliance in partnership with external advisors.
- Implement efficient internal controls, scalable processes, and continuous improvements to workflows and reconciliations.
- Partner with the Sr. Director of Finance on financial statement preparation, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Own and manage finance systems, including NetSuite and Bill, ensuring accurate data flow and integration.
- Supervise, mentor, and grow the accounting team to drive accountability and professional development.
Requirements
- Must be based in the San Francisco area to support a hybrid model (2 days per week in the South San Francisco office).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager in a SaaS or recurring-revenue business.
- Mastery of NetSuite, Bill, and related accounting/finance systems.
- Deep technical knowledge of ASC 606/IFRS 15 for SaaS and service contracts.
- Demonstrated experience with complex contracting, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
- Track record of driving accounting and operational process changes in high-growth or startup environments.
