Controller

Responsibilities

• Safeguard University assets by directing General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Grant Accounting, Student Receivables, Cash Management, and Payroll.
• Ensure the integrity of financial data, including coding, student receivables, and expense accounting.
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct annual financial, federal, state single, and foundation audits.
• Develop and review departmental processes, internal controls, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with GAAP and government regulations.
• Assist with annual budget preparation, monitoring, and analysis.
• Manage and lead staff by interviewing, hiring, assigning work, and providing professional development and guidance.
• Coordinate the maintenance of software systems producing financial and student-related data.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 10 years of professional work experience in Accounting or Finance.
• 5 years of professional experience involving employee supervision in Finance or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and higher education accounting.
• Proven knowledge of grant management principles.
• Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA).
• Previous experience working as a Controller.
• CPA and/or CMA certification.
