Control Systems Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop, program and commission realtime automation architectures and machine protection systems around Beckhoff PLCs
• Design, build and support CI/CD pipelines for the Control System software
• Elicit and manage technical requirements with engineers and scientists
• Collaborate on and improve architecture and technology stack of the Control Systems
• Define and document functional specifications, test plans and acceptance criteria

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or related Engineering field
• 3+ years of hands-on industry experience in software development (backend or control systems)
• Extensive experience in OOP languages such as C++, Python, Java, C#, Kotlin, or Rust
• Understanding of modern software development practices (CI/CD, Git, automated testing)
• Experience working in a software development team
• Fluent English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Beckhoff PLCs and TwinCAT
• Experience with EPICS development
• Experience with distributed systems
• Experience working with scientific facilities like laser laboratories or accelerators
• Understanding of real-time control concepts and industrial fieldbuses (EtherCAT, Modbus-TCP)
