About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, enhance, and maintain critical SCADA/DCS platforms and process automation hardware
- Plan and deliver automation-related projects, including developing programming specifications and coordinating system testing
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance staff to ensure reliable plant performance and support system upgrades
- Troubleshoot and assess automated systems to identify areas for improved reliability or efficiency
- Maintain accurate configuration documentation and track performance metrics to guide future system enhancements
- Support daily operations by ensuring PLC programs and automated controls run smoothly
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, computer information systems, engineering, or a closely related field
- At least three years of progressively responsible experience in the implementation and maintenance of process automation and controls in an industrial or wastewater/water treatment environment
- Proficiency in PLC programming and experience with SCADA/DCS platforms
- Valid California Class C driver's license and ability to maintain insurability
- Ability to respond to emergency situations and call-outs 24/7 as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a public agency
- ISA Certified Control Systems Professional or Technician
- CWEA Electrical/Instrumentation Grade III certification
- Experience with Rockwell Automation Control Logix, Factory Talk View, and PlantPAx
- Experience with Wonderware SCADA software and Modicon PLCs
- Knowledge of ICS cybersecurity and technologies used to secure ICS networks
