About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and sustain the Control Room Management (CRM) Program in alignment with API 1168 standards
- Own and govern the Alarm Management program, including rationalization, prioritization, and performance monitoring
- Ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness across all control room operations
- Establish alarm philosophy and lifecycle management processes to ensure alarms are actionable and meaningful
- Assess and manage controller workload, fatigue, and situational awareness to mitigate human-factor risks
- Partner with Operations to optimize system design, display interfaces, and shift handover processes
- Govern changes to control systems and alarm configurations through formal Management of Change (MOC) processes
- Establish and track KPIs for alarm management and CRM performance, such as alarm rates and peak loads
- Analyze incidents and near-hits to identify gaps in alarm design and embed lessons learned into CRM processes
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in engineering, science, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of gas pipeline operations, system constraints, and risk-based operational decision-making
- Demonstrated ability to balance operational risk with stakeholder expectations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex operational concepts for varied audiences
- Strong organizational acumen and the ability to build effective partnerships across stakeholders
- Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness during periods of high workload or operational stress
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SCADA, pipeline operations, and gas control programs
- Experience building governance and assurance processes, including procedures, audits, and training
- Experience using data and analytics (e.g., Power BI, SEEQ) to drive decisions and track KPIs
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and operational maturity
