Contracts Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the operational, commercial, and safety performance of assigned civil engineering projects
• Manage Project Managers, ensuring safe, on-time delivery and protecting project margins
• Oversee commercial management, including budgeting, cashflow, cost forecasting, and variations
• Manage contractual obligations and notices using NEC, JCT, or bespoke contract forms
• Act as the senior operational and commercial interface for clients, main contractors, and designers
• Maintain and review project risk registers and implement mitigation actions
• Ensure high HSEQ standards and enforce safe systems of work across all projects
• Produce regular operational and commercial reports for the Contracts Director

Requirements

• 5+ years of operational or contracts management experience within civil engineering
• Proven experience in tunnelling, pipe jacking, or trenchless pipeline installations
• Strong commercial competence in budgeting, forecasting, and final accounts
• Extensive experience with UK contract forms, specifically NEC
• HND or Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel/stay overnight as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Chartered or professional membership in a relevant body
• HSEQ qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate or SMSTS
• Experience in pre-construction and acting as a bid director
