About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the SRE function from the ground up, defining the team charter and establishing SRE as a discipline
  • Hire, develop, and retain a team of 3–5 SRE engineers
  • Define the technical roadmap for reliability architecture, automation, and capacity planning
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for critical incidents and drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Own 24/7 reliability across colocation, on-premises lab clusters, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and customer-facing services
  • Establish observability stacks using Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
  • Manage FinOps and capacity planning across all infrastructure tiers
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible
  • Direct a dedicated data center and lab technician team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 15+ years in SRE, infrastructure engineering, or production engineering
  • 5+ years leading SRE or infrastructure engineering teams
  • Proven track record of establishing SRE disciplines in organizations lacking them
  • Deep Linux systems expertise including networking (TCP/IP, RDMA) and kernel tuning
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise shared storage platforms (NAS/SAN, NFS/SMB)
  • Experience operating colocation and on-premises hardware at scale
  • Proficiency in Terraform and Ansible at production scale
  • Experience with Kubernetes cluster operations
  • Strong Python and/or Go programming skills
  • Ability to operate in high-ambiguity, low-process environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating customer-facing platform services
  • Knowledge of high-speed interconnect fabrics like InfiniBand, RoCE, or NVLink
  • Experience with HPC job schedulers such as Slurm or LSF
  • Multi-cloud hybrid operations experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • FinOps expertise including TCO modeling
  • ITIL knowledge or equivalent structured management frameworks
