Contamination Control Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform physical hands-on cleaning, including aqueous degreasing and solvent flushing of spaceflight hardware
• Conduct outgassing and material analysis to ensure mission success
• Verify cleanliness through particulate counts, non-volatile residue, and black light (UV) inspection
• Review contamination control plans and outline cleanliness standards
• Provide guidance on precision cleaning, inspection, and verification processes

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Materials Engineering, or a related science/engineering field
• At least 2 years of experience in Contamination Engineering, including cleanroom environment experience
• Experience performing precision cleaning, inspection, and verification on spaceflight hardware
• Experience cleaning hardware with solvents and surfactants on metals, composites, and polymers
• Ability to work occasional overtime, extended shifts, or travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related science or engineering field
• Experience with vacuum testing procedures such as MSFC-SPEC-1238, ASTM 595, and ASTM 1559
• Experience in particulate and molecular sampling in accordance with industry standards like IEST-STDCC1246E
• Familiarity with ISO-14644 cleanroom certification standards
• 5+ years of experience in Contamination Engineering with spaceflight hardware
• Expertise in performing contamination transport analysis and modeling
