About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform physical hands-on cleaning, including aqueous degreasing and solvent flushing of spaceflight hardware
- Conduct outgassing and material analysis to ensure mission success
- Verify cleanliness through particulate counts, non-volatile residue, and black light (UV) inspection
- Review contamination control plans and outline cleanliness standards
- Provide guidance on precision cleaning, inspection, and verification processes
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Materials Engineering, or a related science/engineering field
- At least 2 years of experience in Contamination Engineering, including cleanroom environment experience
- Experience performing precision cleaning, inspection, and verification on spaceflight hardware
- Experience cleaning hardware with solvents and surfactants on metals, composites, and polymers
- Ability to work occasional overtime, extended shifts, or travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related science or engineering field
- Experience with vacuum testing procedures such as MSFC-SPEC-1238, ASTM 595, and ASTM 1559
- Experience in particulate and molecular sampling in accordance with industry standards like IEST-STDCC1246E
- Familiarity with ISO-14644 cleanroom certification standards
- 5+ years of experience in Contamination Engineering with spaceflight hardware
- Expertise in performing contamination transport analysis and modeling
