About the role

Responsibilities

  • Receive, accession, and triage consultation case samples and patient assets
  • Perform accurate data entry into Department of Pathology Laboratory Information and tracking systems
  • Unpack, verify, and record contents and condition of received patient assets and paperwork
  • Label and triage patient assets for distribution to designated services
  • Return slides, blocks, and other patient assets to originating facilities with high attention to detail
  • Assist in resolving accessioning issues, including requisition discrepancies and missing information
  • Support specimen processing, including receipt, transport, tracking, and distribution of anatomic and clinical laboratory specimens
  • Maintain quality control, such as performing temperature checks on storage refrigerators and freezers

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to perform timely and accurate data entry
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to perform frequent standing and walking
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based production environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, MiChart, or Soft software
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment
