Consultant/Specialist Ophthalmologist

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage various eye conditions, including refractive errors, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, and ocular infections
• Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures, including cataract surgery and other microsurgical interventions
• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations using slit-lamp examination, fundoscopic evaluation, and visual acuity testing
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), visual field testing, and retinal imaging
• Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative care for surgical patients
• Collaborate with optometrists, endocrinologists, and other specialists to provide multidisciplinary care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records in compliance with regulatory standards
• Provide patient education regarding eye health, vision care, and preventive strategies

Requirements

• Minimum of 3+ years of post-specialty experience
• Recognized specialist qualification (e.g., American Board, UK CCT, FRCOphth, MRCOphth, Royal College Canada, Australian Fellowship, or equivalent)
• Eligibility for DOH, DHA, or MOH licensing in the UAE
• Proficiency in ophthalmic surgical procedures and microsurgery
