About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide expert assessment and management of patients presenting with acute medical conditions requiring urgent evaluation and treatment
- Lead the care of patients admitted through the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and medical admission pathways
- Manage patients with complex multisystem illnesses, including cardiovascular, respiratory, infectious, renal, endocrine, and metabolic conditions
- Rapidly identify deteriorating patients and initiate appropriate escalation of care
- Lead and participate in medical emergency response, resuscitation, and stabilization of critically ill patients
- Conduct daily ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans
- Collaborate closely with specialists in cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, neurology, and critical care
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and medical trainees
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years post specialist or board certification
- American Board of Internal Medicine or equivalent (UK CCT, MRCP/FRCP, Royal College Canada, FRACP, or Arab Board)
- Eligibility for DHA, DOH, or MOH licensing
- Strong clinical skills in managing high-acuity medical admissions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within an Acute Medical Unit (AMU) or hospitalist service
- ALS/ACLS and BLS certification
- Experience in patient flow management and rapid assessment pathways
