Consultant/Specialist Thoracic Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and surgically manage thoracic conditions including lung cancer, pleural diseases, and mediastinal tumors
• Perform open and minimally invasive thoracic surgeries, including VATS and robotic-assisted surgery
• Manage thoracic oncology cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary tumor boards
• Conduct pre-operative evaluations and post-operative care, including ICU coordination
• Perform procedures such as lobectomy, pneumonectomy, decortication, and esophageal interventions
• Collaborate with pulmonology, oncology, radiology, and critical care teams
• Participate in emergency thoracic surgical services and trauma care
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance, patient safety, and international surgical standards
• Contribute to clinical audits, research, and continuous medical education
• Mentor junior doctors and surgical trainees

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5+ years of experience post board certification
• Recognized board certification such as American Board of Thoracic Surgery, UK CCT / FRCS (Thoracic Surgery), European Board Certification, Royal College Certification (Canada), Australian Fellowship, or Arab Board
• MCh / DNB / DM Thoracic Surgery or equivalent recognized sub-specialty qualification
• Eligibility for Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Department of Health (DOH) license conversion
