About the role
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and surgically manage thoracic conditions including lung cancer, pleural diseases, and mediastinal tumors
- Perform open and minimally invasive thoracic surgeries, including VATS and robotic-assisted surgery
- Manage thoracic oncology cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary tumor boards
- Conduct pre-operative evaluations and post-operative care, including ICU coordination
- Perform procedures such as lobectomy, pneumonectomy, decortication, and esophageal interventions
- Collaborate with pulmonology, oncology, radiology, and critical care teams
- Participate in emergency thoracic surgical services and trauma care
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, patient safety, and international surgical standards
- Contribute to clinical audits, research, and continuous medical education
- Mentor junior doctors and surgical trainees
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5+ years of experience post board certification
- Recognized board certification such as American Board of Thoracic Surgery, UK CCT / FRCS (Thoracic Surgery), European Board Certification, Royal College Certification (Canada), Australian Fellowship, or Arab Board
- MCh / DNB / DM Thoracic Surgery or equivalent recognized sub-specialty qualification
- Eligibility for Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Department of Health (DOH) license conversion
