Consultant, Senior Public Health Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on the design, implementation, and scaling of the Metropolitan Disease Surveillance program
• Support the development of surveillance strategies, frameworks, and tools to enhance metropolitan capabilities
• Identify implementation barriers and propose strategic solutions to overcome challenges
• Conduct implementation research and prepare policy briefs to document innovations and best practices
• Develop recommendations for private sector engagement and partnership opportunities
• Coordinate with government counterparts, development partners, and technical agencies for multi-sectoral approaches
• Apply expertise in geospatial epidemiology to predict disease outbreaks and identify vulnerable populations
• Contribute to capacity-building through training and mentoring of health professionals at national and state levels
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for the NCDC, the World Bank, and other stakeholders

Requirements

• MBBS with post-graduate specialization in Community Medicine/Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM) or equivalent
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in public health
• At least 10 years of hands-on experience in disease surveillance projects
• In-depth knowledge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infectious diseases, and urban public health infrastructure
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Hindi
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time for program-related activities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience collaborating with national and state health agencies such as NCDC and IDSP
• Familiarity with technical partners like WHO and CDC
• Knowledge of the Indian health system, including IHIP, IDSP, NHM, and Ayushman Bharat
