Consultant Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients requiring physical medicine and rehabilitation services
• Develop individualized treatment plans for neurological, musculoskeletal, orthopedic, spinal cord, and chronic pain conditions
• Coordinate multidisciplinary programs with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and nursing teams
• Perform rehabilitation procedures including joint injections, spasticity management, and pain management interventions
• Manage both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation cases
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to optimize functional recovery
• Provide patient and family education regarding rehabilitation goals and long-term care
• Ensure accurate medical documentation and compliance with DOH regulations and hospital policies
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and CME activities

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
• Board Certification or Fellowship in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in PM&R
• 5–7 years of post-board consultant experience in a reputed rehabilitation or tertiary care hospital
• Strong expertise in musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in stroke rehabilitation, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and chronic pain management
• Exposure to sports rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic studies (EMG/NCS)
• Experience working in multidisciplinary rehabilitation centers
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment
