Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon (Transplant)

Responsibilities

• Perform complex pediatric cardiac surgeries, including congenital heart defect repairs and high-risk neonatal procedures
• Lead pediatric heart transplantation programs, including donor evaluation, recipient selection, and surgical transplantation
• Provide comprehensive preoperative and postoperative surgical care for pediatric cardiac patients
• Manage critically ill patients in collaboration with ICU, cardiology, anesthesia, and perfusion teams
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows, and surgical trainees
• Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac conferences and surgical planning meetings
• Contribute to clinical research, audits, and academic activities in the field
• Ensure high standards of surgical safety, infection control, and compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
• Board Certification or Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery
• Advanced training or mandatory experience in pediatric heart transplantation
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Cardiac Surgery
• 7–10 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery, including transplant programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in ECMO and advanced mechanical circulatory support
• Exposure to high-volume pediatric cardiac transplant centers
• Academic and research background in pediatric cardiac surgery
• Ability to work in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary tertiary care environment
