Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Perform complex pediatric cardiac surgeries including congenital heart defect repairs, neonatal cardiac surgery, and redo cardiac procedures
• Manage perioperative care of pediatric cardiac patients in collaboration with cardiology, anesthesia, and intensive care teams
• Participate in surgical planning for high-risk congenital heart disease cases and provide emergency surgical intervention
• Work closely with pediatric cardiologists in diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows, and surgical trainees
• Ensure adherence to surgical safety standards, infection control, and quality protocols
• Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac conferences and contribute to clinical research and audits

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
• Board Certification or Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter
• 7–10 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in ECMO and mechanical circulatory support programs
• Exposure to high-volume pediatric cardiac centers
• Academic and research background in pediatric cardiac surgery
• Ability to work in a high-acuity tertiary care environment
