Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Perform complex pediatric cardiac surgeries, including congenital heart defect repairs, neonatal cardiac surgery, and redo procedures.
• Manage perioperative care for pediatric cardiac patients in collaboration with cardiology, anesthesia, and intensive care teams.
• Provide emergency surgical intervention for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients.
• Participate in surgical planning for high-risk congenital heart disease cases.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows, and surgical trainees.
• Ensure adherence to surgical safety standards, infection control, and quality protocols.
• Contribute to clinical research, audits, publications, and academic development.

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
• Board Certification or Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery with subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Cardiac Surgery.
• 7–10 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery.
• Strong expertise in neonatal and complex congenital heart surgery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in ECMO and mechanical circulatory support programs.
• Exposure to high-volume pediatric cardiac centers.
• Academic and research background in pediatric cardiac surgery.
• Ability to work in a high-acuity tertiary care environment.
