Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist

Responsibilities

• Manage critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in the PCICU
• Provide pre-operative stabilization and post-operative care following congenital heart surgery
• Manage ECMO, mechanical ventilation, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and cardiac emergencies
• Lead multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate individualized treatment plans
• Collaborate with pediatric cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and specialized nursing teams
• Interpret complex diagnostic data including echocardiography and hemodynamic studies
• Support quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, and departmental growth
• Mentor junior physicians and participate in teaching, research, and CME activities
• Communicate effectively with families to provide compassionate, family-centered care

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution
• Board Certification in Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Cardiology, or Pediatric Anesthesiology
• Fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care
• Minimum 8–10 years of post-specialization experience in a high-volume pediatric cardiac center
• Expertise in congenital heart disease, ECMO, and post-operative pediatric cardiac ICU care
• Eligibility for DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant licensure
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage
