Consultant – Palliative Care

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients requiring palliative and end-of-life care
• Develop individualized treatment and symptom management plans for patients with advanced or chronic illnesses
• Provide expert consultation for pain management and complex symptom control
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including oncology, nursing, psychology, and social work
• Conduct family meetings to facilitate goals-of-care discussions and advance care planning
• Participate in the development of palliative care policies, protocols, and clinical pathways
• Provide teaching and mentorship to physicians, residents, and allied healthcare professionals

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
• Accredited specialty training in Palliative Medicine or a related specialty
• Board Certification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi
• Minimum of 5 years post-board experience as a Consultant in Palliative Care
• Eligibility for DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant licensure
• Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in tertiary care hospitals, cancer centers, or dedicated palliative care units
• Expertise in pain management and oncology supportive care
• Experience in service development and quality improvement projects
